Femoral Neck Fracture in a Child As a Technical Pitfall During Triple Innominate Osteotomy
نویسنده
چکیده
Persistent acetabular dysplasia and residual hip subluxation are well known causes of premature secondary arthrosis of the hip joint. The rationale for treatment of these conditions is to restore the anatomical and biomechanical relationship. The treatment is based on the patient’s age and the hip congruity. In older children and adolescents with congruent hips, a triple innominate osteotomy appears to accomplish these goals by increasing the area of weight-bearing hyaline cartilage available for the femoral head.

Non:::union::: of femoral neck fracture in young patients is still a big problem, specially in developing countries. Between 1980 and 1998 we performed 27 cases of valgusizing osteotomy to fix non:::union::: of femoral neck fracture on patient of 17 to 74 years old with an average of 45 years. Majority of the patients had displaced fracture of femoral neck and had under gone surgery but most we...

Introduction Periacetabular osteotomies are performed for improvement of femoral head coverage in a variety of clinical scenarios. A number of osteotomies are in clinical use today, and they differ in surgical technique, amount of coverage attainable, and biomechanical strength. The use of the triple innominate osteotomy in North America was popularized by Steel. In Tonnis' modification of the ...

During a period of nine years (1982-1991), Pauwels' osteotomy was performed for 38 cases of femoral neck non-:::union:::. 32 led to consolidation with one osteotomy (84%) and 6 failed (3 needed revision (92%), one died and two were lost to follow-up). The length of follow-up was 2-11 years, the average time of non-:::union::: 12 months (ranging from 4 months to 13 years) and the mean patien...

The aim of this retrospective study was to compare simultaneous open reduction and Salter innominate osteotomy versus one-stage combined surgical treatment including femoral shortening. A total of 24 patients were studied. Group 1 included 16 hips in 14 patients treated by simultaneous open reduction and Salter innominate osteotomy; Group 2 included 13 hips in 10 patients treated by one-stage o...

OBJECTIVE : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of valgus intertrochanteric osteotomy in femoral neck non-union. METHODS : Forty-two patients with femoral neck fractures with non-union treated using Pauwels' intertrochanteric osteotomy were reviewed.
